OUR FOUNDER
First Generation Ghanaian American, Christiana Afotey is the last of four children born Seth + Fedelia Mensah. Christiana has been in Nashville, TN since 1998 and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a major in Business Administration and Human Relations.
With inspiration from her parents and Ghanaian culture, she committed herself to develop her apparel brand. She uses authentic and ethically traded resources made in Ghana to produce her garments. While building her brand, the Threads by Dreads Foundation was born in hopes of empowering exemplary students to become pioneering leaders of tomorrow. Since 2016, the Threads by Dreads Foundation has been awarding yearly scholarships to high school and college students in Ghana. In addition to her apparel line, Christiana is the President of the Afotey Media Agency. This advertising powerhouse is proudly based in Ghana where it services the needs of local and international business and organizations.
Currently, Christiana spends her days working for a financial institution as a business consultant. When she's not taking care of business, she spends her time with family, advocating for black entrepreneurs and destroying plates of jollof rice.
